Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Kashmiri STT mobile app and web recorder (collectively, "the service"). By using the service you agree to these terms.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to use the service on your own. If you are under 18, you may use the service only with the active supervision and consent of a parent or guardian.

What the service does

The service lets volunteers and employees record short audio clips of Kashmiri-language prompts. Those recordings are used to build an open speech-to-text dataset for the Kashmiri language.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the service only for its intended purpose. You will not:

  • Upload audio you did not record yourself, or that you do not have permission to contribute.
  • Upload audio containing personal information about third parties (names, phone numbers, addresses) unless you have their consent.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Attempt to access, probe, or scan the service in ways that could disrupt it for other users.
  • Use the service to impersonate another person.

We may remove uploads that violate these rules and may suspend or revoke access for users who repeatedly do so.

License you grant us

When you upload a recording you grant the Kashmiri STT project a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:

  • Use the recording to train and evaluate speech-to-text models.
  • Include the recording in derivative datasets and machine-learning models.
  • Redistribute the recording as part of a published open Kashmiri speech corpus, alongside the technical metadata listed in the Privacy Policy.

This license survives termination of your account. We will not publish your name, email, or account identifier alongside the recording.

You retain ownership of your recordings; the license above does not transfer copyright.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials (Google account, Apple account, or employee code) secure. Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised by emailing farhansyedain@gmail.com.

Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Kashmiri STT project and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. You may request that we delete your account and uploaded data; see the Privacy Policy for the process. Recordings already incorporated into a published version of the dataset cannot be retroactively withdrawn from prior publications, but will be excluded from future releases on request.

We may suspend or terminate access to the service if you violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these terms will be resolved in the courts of India.
